Vintage 1950's MARX ROBIN HOOD Tin-Litho CASTLE PLAYSET

For sale is this vintage 1955 or 1956 tin litho MARX "Robin Hood Playset". The set is fairly complete from the way it was issued and includes a tin litho castle with the King's palace surrounded by brick walls, 8 turrets and a grand entrance gate. Grey figures represent the Sheriff of Nottingham's men and Price John's knights while the beige figures represent the residents of Sherwood Forrest including Robin Hood & and merry men. The central figures in the story (Robin Hood, Little John, Will the minstrel, Maid Marion, Friar Tuck, and the Sheriff of Nottingham) are cream colored and have their names stamped on the bottom of their bases (photo 12).

Set even includes 3 looters (photo 6) who are "robbing from the rich to give to the poor". Additional pieces include a tree, a crude ladder, a deer, an archery target, 2 catapults and a case of plastic stones to be launched from the catapults. The tin litho pieces are beautifully rendered and in very good condition with no rust or wear or scratches and all the tabs are there in order to attach them to each other. There are also a few additional lances and flags. I had a set like this one when I was about 7 years old.
